‘Sex business ‘ is growing rapidly in Indonesia. According to a report, many tourists from Middle Eastern countries marry poor girls of Indonesia who are only married for a few days. These girls are exploited.
In which the 17 year old bride and 50 year old groom…whose name is Kahaya, were married in front of a few people in a hotel in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. This marriage took place according to Islamic law and Kahaya’s husband was a tourist from Saudi Arabia.
Kahaya has an elder sister who takes care of her, so she lives with her. The guardian who got them married also lived with them. The tourist from Saudi Arabia gave 850 dollars (71,387 rupees) as dowry to marry Kahaya without her consent. After paying the share of the agent and the Maulvi, half of the dowry was given to Kahaya’s family.
After the marriage, Kahaya’s husband took her to a resort in Kota Bunga, a place two km south of Jakarta. There he started claiming his rights over Kahaya as her husband, i.e. Kahaya used to do the household chores as well as keep him happy. Kahaya was having a lot of problems with that 50-year-old man and she wanted this marriage to end as soon as possible.
After a few days of sex business marriage, Kahaya was given a divorce
This marriage lasted only a few days, her husband who was a tourist went to his country Saudi. Before that, he ended the marriage by saying triple talaq to Kahaya. Whatever marriage happens here is only on contract, this marriage was also like that. Which has ended now. Kahaya says that many marriages have happened in this way, so she does not remember properly. According to her, she has married 15 times till now. All the men she has married are from Middle Eastern countries, who come here as tourists. She says that this is no less than a torture for me.
Whenever my marriage is with someone, I just think that it should end quickly and I should go home. There is a village here which is known by the name of divorced women. Any marriage that happens here is just for fun, it is considered wrong according to Islam.
There is a place in Indonesia named Punsak, which is famous there, which is used for this work. Kahaya says that she knows 7 such women in this village with a population of one thousand, who are doing this work for their whole life. In the Muslim country Indonesia, the law strictly prohibits such marriages, but no one forbids all these things there. Along with this, Nikah has also become a business here, in which there is a very big network of brokers and people.

This work was happening in Thailand before Indonesia. For many years, Thailand was the best place for tourists who came here to roam and enjoy their life.

Kahaya had done many marriages before contract marriage
Before the age of 17, Kahaya was married at the age of 13 to a boy who was studying with her. She did not know anything. Her grandparents had forced her to do this marriage. After this marriage, her husband divorced her, that too after four years. In these four years, she had become a mother and had a daughter too, but her husband refused to adopt her.
Due to this, Kahaya had to take the responsibility of herself and her daughter. She thought of doing some work like general story, but at that time the money was very less, so she could not do anything.
When her sister suggested that she can earn good money by doing contract marriage, for this work, he also introduced her to Badi who was a broker of contract marriage.
She used to earn 300-500 from every contract marriage, which was enough for her living. But this money used to last for a few days only. Kahaya says that she felt very strange doing this. Now 32 years old Nisa talks about her first contract marriage, ‘I used to cry a lot inside. Who would want to marry an old man? I did that marriage for money so that I could take care of my family.
Nisa says that she has done 20 contract marriages so far. Now she has come out of this work. Four years ago, she fell in love with an Indonesian man and then both of them got married.
She is very happy in this marriage. She also has a daughter and two sons. She told everything about herself to her husband, after which her husband accepted her the way she is.
Kahaya was treated like a slave in Saudi Arabia
Kahaya also never wanted such a life. She also wanted to get out of this hell and in this desire she met a Saudi boy in a contract marriage. He trapped her in his web of love and promised to marry her. He would give her 2000 dollars as dowry in return for this marriage. Till she stays with her mother. That person took her to Saudi around October.
After that he started beating Kahaya, made her do household chores, did not even give her enough food, used to do very dirty things with her. Once Kahaya thought of running away from there but she failed many times and in this process she even cut the vein of her hand but nothing more happened than that. Her elder sister helped her to get out of there. After coming back from there, he started food delivery work.
